Sleeps 6 adults plus an additional 2 children and/or infants.
The sumptuous beds and quiet, rural location will ensure you of a peaceful night’s sleep. Robes are provided for your use and relaxation.
The large bathroom, luxuriously appointed with a claw foot bath to relax in, with toilet located separately ensures you will not be disturbed.
The fully complimented kitchen contains an oven, hob, fridge and microwave. Many store room basics are provided such as oil, vinegar, herbs and spices.
The separate laundry room boasts a washing machine, dryer, tub, iron and board.
Free Wifi for your use along with a television, DVD’s, CD player and large selection of books and magazines will help you while away the evening in front of the open wood burning fire. The fire will be set for you each day to light when you are ready. Logs and kindling are provided.

Located between Wakefield and Brightwater near Nelson

Nestled in Mt Heslington Valley on a 16 acre farm, with cattle and sheep grazing in surrounding paddocks. This beautiful Country Cottage enjoys a very peaceful rural setting away from major roads and with an amazing night sky.

The Last Straw Cottage is a fully self contained accommodation and is meticulously maintained and decorated by your hosts Caroline and Simon. There are many unique features to the Cottage including an open fire place, beautiful beams in the lounge and bedrooms, a macrocarpa bespoke staircase, and a viewing hatch through which the straw bale construction can be seen.

With a country ‘shabby chic’ theme running throughout the cottage, every detail has been thought of to make your stay in the Nelson/ Tasman region as comfortable and pleasurable as possible. The bathroom has a clawfoot bath and separate shower, the lounge has a traditional open fireplace, a rare experience these days, and the kitchen is equipped with a large supply of crockery and utensils and enough cooking pans and equipment to suit an enthusiastic chef.

With Nelson as the sunshine capital of New Zealand, we have made sure there are plenty of places around the cottage and garden for you to relax and enjoy a glass of local Nelson wine. The accommodation has it’s own large private garden with outdoor table setting for alfresco dining along with a large bbq and a brazier. Outdoor games are provided including pétanque and croquet, plus a sandpit and toys to entertain the children.

A perfect location to explore all that Nelson / Tasman region has to offer.

In the heart of the stunning Nelson/Tasman region, just 5 minutes cycle ride to the Great Taste Cycle Trail, an easy drive from Nelson City and within easy access to three beautiful National Parks.

The Abel Tasman National Park, The Nelson Lakes National Park and The Kahurangi National Park are all approximately 40 minutes drive from the Last Straw Cottage, making this accommodation a very central choice for family holidays.
